Prognosis Mesothelioma

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Prognosis Mesothelioma - In the case of mesothelioma, the prognosis is not as accurate as with other serious diseases is lower. This is because the prognosis is usually dependent on the stage where the disease is detected. Mesothelioma is usually detected quite late in patients, making it difficult to state the percentage of cure or age of the patient after treatment. Whatever the statistics available are not reliable as one wants them to be. Although not easy to determine which of the two – the pleura or peritoneum – mesothelioma more difficult for the stage, the experts generally agree that the forecast is quite difficult for both.

However, recent research and studies have shown that mesothelioma patients may not be as off as bad as initially believed. This data table below.

Likelihood Detection Mesothelioma Life stage (number of years) Percentage of Patients

Mid to advanced stage of three years 10%

5 years 5%

Early stages of two years 50%

5 years 20%

This is only general data on the prognosis of mesothelioma. There are certain data that are available n the Internet for certain scenarios and situations.
